Pushing the boundaries of aviation filmmaking requires a combination of creativity, technical expertise, and innovative thinking.

Personally here are few of my steps help me achieve and push the boundaries of aviation filmmaking;

1.) Story and Concept Development

- start by developing a unique and compelling story or cinematic concept that revolves around aviation. This could involve air shows, historical events, personal stories (my favorite), and exploring the technical aspects of aviation (engineering, entrepreneurship, new aviation companies).

2.) Collaboration.

- it’s important to learn form the industry leaders; aviation experts, pilots, engineers, and aviation enthusiasts. Their insights can add authenticity to your aviation film and help capture details around your project. Collaboration allows you to build knowledge and build solid relationships.

3.) Advanced Filming Techniques

- utilize advanced filming techniques such as aerial cinematography (air to air and drone cinematography), stabilized gimbal system to capture breathtaking cinematic aviation sequences. Being innovative and unique in your filmmaking will make a huge difference, and to your workflow in general.

4.) Cinematic Lighting and Composition

- In recent year, I’ve invested into purchasing filmmaking lighting equipment. Experimenting with lighting and composition to create visually stunning shots will make a huge difference, for example, hangar/airplane shots. Also lighting can help set the tone during sunrise, sunset, and various weather conditions.

5.) Incorporating Personal Stories

- include personal stories, pilot stories, crew members, and new eyes of aviation. Human stories can add emotional depth to a story and relatability to your aviation film.

6.) Push Creative Boundaries

- challenge yourself to think outside of the box to your typical filmmaking. What makes your story unique?
